Winter 2019 Orientation

Welcome to the Scarlet Knight Family! We’re looking forward to meeting you at an upcoming Orientation program! Our primary goal is to ensure that every student walks away from their orientation program with the resources, tools and answers to make sure their first semester is a successful one.  All new students are expected to attend a winter orientation program.

Our winter orientation sessions are designed specifically for domestic first-year, transferring, returning and non-traditional students enrolling at Rutgers for the spring semester of 2019.

Winter 2019 Sessions:

  • Monday, January 14th
    • extended evening option
  • Wednesday, January 16th

An optional bus tour of the five campuses or walking tour of our Livingston Campus will be available on a first come, first serve basis prior to the start of each orientation program.

Orientation programs will take place at the Livingston Student Center on the Livingston Campus located at 84 Joyce Kilmer Avenue in Piscataway, NJ 08854. Additional information regarding parking arrangements and daily schedule will be provided to students via email after date selection.

You can sign up for a Winter session on the Enrollment Pathway.

Family and Guest Information

Parent and Family members are welcomed to attend the orientation program  with their student. Some sessions in the program are specifically directed to parent and family members.

The extended evening program and dinner on campus opportunities and some parts of the half-day student schedule are for incoming students only. Please indicate if you will be bringing a parent or family member with you to orientation when selecting a date. Due to space limitations, students are limited to one parent or family member at the orientation program.

All Parents and Family Members are encouraged to sign up for the Rutgers Parent and Family Newsletter.

Priority Sessions

Priority Sessions are orientation sessions that include breakout academic sessions for students enrolled in certain schools. These breakout academic sessions will allow you to hear important information from advisors and faculty from your school of registration. Class registration does not occur during priority session breakout sessions.
If you are a student of one of these schools you are encouraged to attend one the priority sessions for your school. However, if the dates don’t work you will be able to register for any orientation session when you register for orientation on the enrollment pathway.

Please see the list of Priority Sessions for each school and their dates.

If you cannot make your priority session it’s okay. The session is encouraged but not mandatory. However, it will be important for you to attend the academic orientation sessions held by your school of registration the day before classes begin.
