Class registration does not occur during priority session breakout sessions.
If you are a student of one of these schools you are encouraged to attend one the priority sessions for your school. However, if the dates don’t work you will be able to register for any orientation session when you register for orientation on the enrollment pathway.

Please see the list of Priority Sessions for each school and their dates.

Winter Orientation

Winter 2019 Info Coming Soon

Welcome to the Scarlet Knight Family! We’re looking forward to meeting you at an upcoming Orientation program!

Our winter orientation sessions are designed specifically for domestic first-year, transferring, returning and non-traditional students enrolling at Rutgers for the spring semester of 2018. If you are an incoming international student, this is not the orientation program you need to attend. International students should visit globalservices.rutgers.edu or contact globalservices@gaiacenters.rutgers.edu with questions.

Our primary goal is to ensure that every student walks away from their orientation program with the resources, tools and answers to make sure their first semester is a successful one!

Winter Orientation Dates

Our orientation programs are designed to provide you with the basic and critical information for your transition to Rutgers. An optional bus tour of the five campuses or walking tour of our Livingston Campus will be available on a first come, first serve basis prior to the start of each orientation program.

Orientation programs will take place at the Livingston Student Center on the Livingston Campus located at 84 Joyce Kilmer Avenue in Piscataway, NJ 08854. Additional information regarding parking arrangements and daily schedule will be provided to students via email after date selection. All new students are expected to attend a winter orientation program.

Dates from which students may chose to attend winter orientation are:

Monday 1/08 New Student Orientation

Wednesday 1/10 New Student Orientation

Note: The costs associated with attending an orientation program is covered by a portion of the one-time New Student Fee on the term bill for all incoming, first-time, full-time Rutgers students regardless of attendance at orientation.

Registration will be made available in November through the Enrollment Pathway.

Family and Guest Information

Parent and Family members are welcomed to attend the orientation program  with their student. Some sessions in the program are specifically directed to parent and family members.

The extended evening program and dinner on campus opportunities and some parts of the half-day student schedule are for incoming students only. Please indicate if you will be bringing a parent or family member with you to orientation when selecting a date. Due to space limitations, students are limited to one parent or family member at the orientation program.

All Parents and Family Members are encouraged to sign up for the Rutgers Parent and Family Newsletter.

Transfer and Non-Traditional Students

Each year our campus welcomes thousands of Transfer and Nontraditional Students to the Rutgers Family.

Even though many of these students have attended college at other two year and four year institutions we know they will need assistance in helping to make the transition to Rutgers.

Rutgers is a unique and special place. It’s five campuses, robust academic programs and thousands of ways to get involved outside the classroom make Rutgers unlike any other university in the nation. We are here to help you feel more prepared, confident and excited about joining the Rutgers family. Rutgers Orientation will help students like you connect with students, staff, faculty that will help you succeed in your transition to Rutgers.
