Welcome, Our New Scarlet Knights to Rutgers!

The mission of New Student Orientation and Family Programs is to welcome, prepare, and engage new students and their families in their transition to Rutgers University-New Brunswick. You will have an opportunity to learn about tools and resources available to you as a Rutgers student, tips and strategies to best navigate the campus, and connect with other new students and student leaders.

Students attending New Student Orientation must be up to date with the university's COVID-10 Immunization Policy.  Up to date means completing a primary series (2 does of Pfizer, 2 does of Moderna, or 1 dose of J&J) as well as a booster once eligible.  Students will not be able to participate in New Student Orientation until they are compliant.

What Can You Expect

New Student Orientation is a two-day, overnight experience for first year students and a one-day experience for transfer students.  Students participating in the overnight experience will spend the night in our Livingston Apartments.  Students will have their own single bedroom within a shared apartment unit.

Through presentations and interactive activities, students will learn more about the Rutgers campus, connect with Rutgers departments, resources, and staff, and get guidance from current Rutgers students.  Spots are available on a first come, first serve basis so do not delay!

Academic Sessions

Academic or Priority Sessions are orientation sessions that include breakout academic sessions for students enrolled in certain schools.  These breakout sessions will provide you the opportunity to hear important information from advisors and faculty from your school of registration.  Depending on your school, you will either be registering for your courses, participating in course planning so your advisor can register you for your classes, and/or understanding your School's course program.

We want to ensure that everyone is able to fully participate in our Orientation experience.  If there are questions and/or concerns about the method(s) of delivering content, please do not hesitate to contact our office at orientation@echo.rutgers.edu.
